AIFS Affiliates

The was created in 1967 with the assistance of the late Senator Robert F. Kennedy with the aim of helping young people from diverse cultures better understand each other. The AIFS Foundation awards grants and scholarships to students for participation in study abroad programs and provides grants to high schools and other institutions to encourage international and educational travel. The AIFS Foundation is an independent, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) tax exempt public charity and a U.S. Department of State designated sponsor of the J-1 Exchange Visitor Visa. Like the city for which it is named, , is a diverse, multicultural environment. The university combines the student-centered approach of an American liberal arts college with outstanding British and American faculty. With dual U.S. and U.K. accreditation, Richmond attracts students from more than 100 countries. Founded in 1983, the original Richmond College was a constituent institution of the University of London until the founding of the present university in 1972.
